S E V A K stands for Society for Empowerment through Voluntary Action in Karnataka. S E V A K was founded in the year 2009 as a registered Society registered
under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 in Belgaum district, Belgaum. We work with the rural and urban communities for forming and strengthening
community based organisations, promoting livelihood opportunities, management and development of natural resources, improving health and education status of the
community, protecting and promoting rights of the children, empowerment of women and building capacities of the communities to raise and mange resources
independently. We also work with other Networks, Government and other partner organisations to influence and promote child rights.
Presently S E V A K Society for Empowerment through Voluntary Action in Karnataka is working in Belagavi district of Karnataka State on its core projects, however we also operate in Dharwad, Uttar Kannada and Koppal districts with our short term projects. The major communities we work with are vulnerable children, women, farmers, tribal communities and slum dwellers.
S E V A K believes that development is propelled by the full and conscience participation of the people at grass-roots level. People’s participation can be achieved only through target community approach starting from the lowest. Further, the battle against poverty can be successfully fought only when people learn to work together and think and plan their own development through collective action.
S E V A K was registered under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 at Belgaum. It is recognized under section 12A and 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961. SEVAK has also registered under FCR Act, 2010 to receive foreign contributions.
