Questions:
Recruiting and Retaining Staff in a High-Shortage Region
Wisconsin is facing a critical shortage of special education teachers, particularly in rural districts where relocation can be difficult. What innovative, data-driven strategies might you implement to attract and, more importantly, retain high-quality special education staff and related service providers in our districts for the 2026-2027 school year?"
Balancing Internal Capacity with External Supports
Small rural districts cannot always afford full-time specialists or specialized programs for low-incidence disabilities. How do you balance building 'internal capacity' (training our own teachers to handle complex needs) to provide FAPE versus relying on outside contractors or services all while maintaining a balanced budget?
Outside Entity Collaboration
In a rural setting, our district's success often depends on services delivered by entities we do not directly manage, such as county mental health agencies, social services or the DVR for transition services. Can you describe your strategy for managing these 'external' relationships to ensure our students receive a seamless experience?
Unlicensed candidates need not apply.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The CCDEB values collaborative leadership, strong communication, and a student-centered approach. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on special education services across Marathon County.
