Special Education Paraprofessional – Hoover City Schools (Alabama)

Spur, a digital staffing agency, is seeking dedicated and punctual Special Education Paraprofessionals to support Hoover City Schools in Alabama. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about assisting students with special needs and working in an educational setting.

Position Overview

As a Special Education Paraprofessional , you will work closely with teachers and staff to support students with special needs in their daily activities. You are expected to maintain professionalism, adapt to various student needs, and create a positive learning environment. Business casual attire is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in group settings.
• Support students with basic grade school-level classwork and assignments.
• Understand and assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) when applicable.
• Escort or accompany students to various activities within the school.
• Adapt to changing student behaviors and needs.
• Provide supervision and enrichment during instructional and non-instructional activities.
• Assist with testing, evaluation, and progress monitoring for students.
• Encourage positive student interactions and engagement.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must obtain a State of Alabama Background Check ($48.00).
• Must complete MCS Training (provided at no cost by Spur Training Manager).
• Required online training must be completed before starting.
• Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs as needed (including assistance with toileting for some students). Advance notice will be provided for such assignments.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $16.04/hour
• Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:55 AM - 3:30 PM (varies by location)
• Work Period: Follows the Hoover City Schools academic calendar when classes are in session.
