SEVAK aims to empower the socially and economically weaker sections of the society, especially women, children, aged and disabled, through providing advice, information, services and by participating with the intermediary organisations in extending cooperation and facilitation and initiate necessary support for their self-reliance.

S E V A K stands for Society for Empowerment through Voluntary Action in Karnataka. S E V A K was founded in the year 2009 as a registered society registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 in Belgaum district, Belgaum.

S E V A K stands for Society for Empowerment through Voluntary Action in Karnataka. S E V A K was founded in the year 2009 as a registered society registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 in Belgaum district, Belgaum. We work with the rural and urban communities for forming and strengthening community-based organizations, promoting livelihood opportunities, management and development of natural resources, improving health and education status of the community, protecting and promoting rights of the children, empowerment of women and building capacities of the communities to raise and manage resources independently. We also work with other Networks, Government and other partner organizations to influence and promote child rights.

For families with several children or living in poverty, child marriage becomes a simple solution to help bring some solution to their desperate economic situation.

Community health is one of the most important aspects to be covered by the government.

CoronaVirus 2019 (COVID-19), an illness caused by a novel coronavirus, was first identified in China in 2019. 

Official statistics place the number of domestic workers employed in India as 4.75 million (of which 3 million are women), but this is considered a severe underestimation and the true number to be between 20 million to 80 million workers! Women count for over 70% of domestic workers.

On 1 August 2019, the first week, due to heavy rainfall in the Monsoon season, severe floods affected the southern Indian State of Karnataka.

As a core member of any family, women should be exposed to nutrition education and invited to participate in health programmes that include diet quality and body mass index.

Puppets are an aspect of our history and everyday lives. From Marionettes to the Muppets, we see them on television, on videos or in live performances.

It is true that financial independence makes a woman confident and empowered. Financially empowered women are the weapon against societal evils.

SEVAK has taken the initiative to spread the awareness in the society along with the puppetry and street theatre to motivate the people to get vaccinated in Belgaum, Bagalkote, Chikkodi, Koppal and Dharwad blocks.

June 2013
Initiated Innovative means of Science communication for Science teachers, students of Education and Science Graduates on Science Commination through traditional Puppetry.

Implemented Nutrition Education for Women (NEW) Project to prevent Iron deficiency Anaemia among Adolescent girls and women in Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal and Raichur districts.
June 2016
Initiated Mobile Medical Unit Services Project in 5 taluks of Belagavi district in joint venture with United Social Welfare Association of Belgaum covering about 120000 populations in remote, hilly and forest tract.
November 2017
Commenced implementing “Initiative for Marriage Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme - identified 1000 married girls below 18 years, provided them needed services for health, continuation education, nutrition, services of combating Gender and Domestic Violence and providing Social Security and Vocational / skill development course.
