The operational area of SEVAK comprises 5 districts viz Belgaum, Dharwad, Vijayapura, Bagalkote and Koppal districts. Our tasks include organizing the communities and especially the women, farmers and children into Self Help Groups, Farmers Clubs and Children’s clubs, promotion and protection child rights, especially the married adolescent girls (victimized children subjected to child marriages) and the children of Devadasis (who are dedicated to deity Yallamma and later exploited for sexual gratification by the upper-class communities). We help in imparting need-based awareness, training and capacity building in order to ascertain their rights and to work for their social and economic development is the principal activities of the organization.

S E V A K believes that development is propelled by the full and conscious participation of the people at the grassroots level. People’s participation can be achieved only through the target community approach starting from the lowest. Further, the battle against poverty can be successfully fought only when people learn to work together and think and plan their own development through collective action.
